Renee Douville

Dr. Renée Douville is an Associate Professor at the University of Winnipeg. She is a cellular immunologist, neurovirologist and a molecular biologist by training, with her PhD in Immunology (UManitoba), and postdoctoral experience at Johns Hopkins University and McGill University. The Douville lab is specialized in the study of endogenous retroviruses which are genetic elements of viral origin found within the human genome. Our team’s focus on human endogenous retrovirus-K (ERVK) and its role in the progressive motor neuron disease Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), seeks to identify novel therapeutic drugs to control pathogenic ERVK expression in inflammatory and neurodegenerative disease.
